One question we are often asked is “Can I run on asphalt with trail shoes?” As of today we can say yes, as long as it is the Hoka Challenger 7.
What is new at Hoka is in fact a completely redesigned shoe compared to its predecessors, starting from the sole compartment (particularly the tread) to the upper. To find the balance point between grip, lightness, comfort and sustainability.

Inspired by the gravel world
The most important new feature is definitely the Abrasion tread, inspired by gravel bike tires: in fact, the tread pattern is 4 mm in the center and increases on the perimeter, so that optimal grip is always guaranteed on both asphalt and off-road terrain.

The midsole is made of CMEVA, an evolved, lighter and softer EVA, which makes with the insole, also made of EVA, a 5 mm drop.
A sustainable upper
The attention to the environmental impact of Hoka’s products can be seen in the upper: both the breathable, lightweight mesh that make it up and the laces are made entirely of recycled materials.
Finally, the weight is lower than in previous models: for the women’s model it is 207 g while for the men’s it is 252 g,not so much for a very protective shoe suitable for mixed surfaces, from asphalt to trail.
The price is also very interesting: the one recommended in stores and on the Hoka website is 150 euros.
